The Importance of Funding for Educational Organizations & the Significance of Education Charities
Education is one of the most vital aspects of success for generations to come.
At the beginning of this course, we were given a chance to pick a worthy cause and implement a research plan to gather data for and create a solution design for the cause. The topic that I chose to focus on was the importance of education charities and the funding they provide for educational organizations.
I wanted to research this topic because I believe that education is one of the most important concepts for young individuals. Many people don’t have the time, energy, or resources to gain an effective education, especially in rural areas. Funding is one of the biggest issues for this, which is why the role of educational charities and organizations holds great importance to give these individuals the important and effective education they might want.
I wanted to know what others thought about education charities and if they felt they held a great significance or not. I conducted a survey that you can see here. My questions were focused on how familiar individuals were with education charities, if they had ever donated or been involved with them, if they believed funding was an important part of the operations of an educational system to give students an accessible education, how they personally receive information about their school system, and how to find an effective way to spread awareness of this issue and find ways to build funding for education charities.
Here are a few data visualizations that show some findings that I was able to gather from my survey.
This chart shows that more than half of the survey takers were either not familiar at all with organization charities, or had at least heard of some with no experience. The rest of them had either a little experience with education charities, or were very familiar and had experience working with them.
This chart shows that only 7% of survey takers believed funding was not an important part of the operations of an educational system to give students an accessible education. The majority of the survey takers, however, did believe that funding was an important part.
Here is a chart that shows data of the survey takers’ opinions on whether or not they felt that their education system was well funded:
These are just a few findings that helped me to implement my final solution design. The information that I gathered helped me to understand that I want to create a greater knowledge and significance of these education charities/institutions because not as many people are aware of these funding issues, especially in rural areas. This impacted my solution design in a way to dive even deeper into my solution ideas, in order to reach an even bigger audience.
Based on the data I collected, I wanted my solution design to include more ways to reach the public about these funding issues. Some ways that I learned to better do this was to implement the use of social media with campaigns and advertising to spread the word. I also want to include spreading this information across news platforms/radio platforms and even completing a media story about rural towns and the schools affected in their area. I want to build funding by spreading this information across various social platforms like Facebook groups or creating a go fund me. You can see others ideas that I gathered for my solution design here.
After completing my research, creating a survey to gather data, and implementing my final solution design, I want the main takeaway for my readers to be realizing the significance of education charities, getting involved and becoming more aware, donating, or even taking my research into their own hands and furthering data gathering for education charities and institutions. I want these long lasting effects to persuade my readers to become involved and take action for the importance of education and the funding for education organizations to run effectively and efficiently to give students an accessible education.
